What stresses do Singapore students face, and how should we deal with it?

There was a recent stabbing and suicide incident at one of the universities in Singapore (Nanyang Technological University). Reports said that the student who stabbed the lecturer may have been suffering from stress. What kind of stress do students (both local and foreign) in Singapore face? What can be done to help them?
